The Vicious Cycle of Consistency & Why Women Need Rhythm, Not Routines.
There's one word I've always had a complicated relationship with:
Consistency. 🙃
Say the word, and you immediately conjure up visions of "discipline."
5 am wake-ups
IF
F45
80-hour work weeks
Basically, a lot of numbers. And the most important of these numbers is the 24-hour cycle.
How much can you cram into one single day?
Trust me, I've drunk this Kool-Aid. In fact, your gurl is STILL drinking this Kool-Aid.
But she's weaning herself off of it. Slowly. Intentionally.
Consistency (as we know it) is a patriarchal tool.
Say the word consistency and you immediately conjure up visions of discipline.
Routines! (Optimised) Calendars! Visibility! Algorithms! Rewards! Results!
It's the word productivity culture is built on, and the promise behind every planner, platform, and post-it.
And yet it has never felt like mine. Or half of the working population, either.
The 24-hour productivity model we've all inherited wasn't made for women and is rooted in hormonal patterns that don't apply to our bodies.
While we operate on 28–35 day cycles, society still tells us to show up like clockwork, every single day.
- Be visible.
- Be reliable.
- Be the same.
So we try. We contort ourselves into content calendars. And post because we're told to, even if it feels inauthentic or exhausting.

Not your cycle? Not your frequency.
The most significant change to my work, my body, and life has come from honouring my cycle.
Recognising that my creativity changes shape throughout the month.
Some days, words spill out of me and I can write for hours. Ideas come easily.
Other days, my energy is quiet and absorbing. Drawing creative nourishment from the stillness.
Consistency ≠ Visibility
Creative consistency doesn't always need to be visible. It can be private. Cyclical. Sacred.
Nature is a great teacher for us. Ever watched your house plant sit in stillness for months, only to wake up one morning to the start of a new leaf?
You don’t have to be constantly blooming to be growing.
You can feed your creativity without pushing yourself to exhaustion.
You can show up for yourself without always being seen.
You got it, girl. Rooting for ya! x
